Sustainability and territory

RIETI

Our territory

The EMEC vision is tied closely to its territory, which is an integral part of our company’s DNA. Rieti is in fact located in an area particularly rich in water on the edge of a plain that was occupied until Roman times by Lake Velino. The river of the same name that still flows through Rieti today has given rise to the spectacular Marmore Falls, among the highest and most impressive in Europe.

Just outside Rieti are the Fonti di Cottorella (Cottorella Springs), which provide especially pure mineral water, while the locality of Cotilia is home to thermal water springs that were used as far back as Roman times. The province of Rieti also boasts the Peschiera aqueduct, which supplies 85% of the water consumed in Rome and is considered one of the largest in the world.

IT WAS IN THIS EXCEPTIONAL SCENARIO THAT EMEC WAS BORN AND CONTINUES TO GROW

EMEC AND THE ENVIRONMENT

A WORLD OF CARE AND ATTENTION

Water is the vital element upon which our passion is based.

Aware of the footprint that human activities leave on the planet, we have always been committed to ensuring that future generations can benefit from this invaluable resource. It’s not just about complying with the law, it’s about staying true to our ethics.

LESS IMPACT, MORE SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is a never-ending journey for us at EMEC, made up of increasingly virtuous steps to minimise the impact of our company on the environment. This is why we have adopted an Environmental Management System, compliant with international standard ISO 14001, which allows us to reduce atmospheric and acoustic emissions, rationalise the consumption of water, electricity and gas, and limit waste production and soil contamination.

Sustainability for EMEC also means giving a second life to waste materials: we recycle or recover 93% of circuit boards, paper, plastic, iron shavings, aluminium, copper, bronze, brass and wood. To this end, we have equipped ourselves with a de-oiling machine that allows us to separate water and oil during the machinery cleaning processes and then reuse them in the production cycle.

FROM GOOD INTENTION TO GOOD PRACTICE

The adoption of renewable energy sources, state-of-the-art boilers and an intelligent air conditioning system has enabled us to drastically reduce our gas and electricity consumption. The only energy we don’t want to save is the energy we put into our work.
